Chicago Journeymen Plumbers will dye the Chicago River a bright emerald green
This year, the phenomenon is best viewed from the East side of the bridge at Columbus Drive or upper and lower Wacker Drive between Columbus and Lake Shore Drive. The official St Patrick's Day Parade starts at noon, at Balbo and Columbus, and proceeds north on Columbus Drive. More info here. (personally, after working on the river for 10 years, there is not much of a difference between the St. Patty's Day green and it's normal green, but whatever).
